2018 Social Security Changes Announced

November 7, 2017

The Social Security Administration recently announced changes, effective for 2018, that will impact the over 10 million Americans who qualify for Social Security Disability payments.

Here are the highlights:

Disability recipients will be permitted to earn a bit more income each month and still qualify for disability payments.

For those currently receiving disability payments, full or part-time work can be trailed with a maximum monthly gross income of $850, up from $840 in 2017.

If you are disabled but not blind, your maximum monthly payment will be $1,180, an increase of $10 a month compared to 2017 thresholds.

Individuals who are blind will be able to receive a maximum monthly payment of $1,970 a month, which equates to an additional $20 monthly for 2018.
