Can I Apply for Social Security?

Many individuals think that they are unable to apply for Social Security because they are currently working or because they have not been off work for at least a year, but this is not always true. Social Security allows a person to claim disability if their gross monthly earnings are below certain thresholds. This threshold changes every year and is currently $1,470.00 for non-blind individuals. Additionally, the rules do not require someone to wait a

full year to apply for disability. Instead, the requirement is that the condition “has lasted, or is expected to last, at least one year or result in death.” If you or someone you know has been told you must wait to file for disability, call our office to discuss the regulations and if you can file your claim now. 330.929.9700
