Despite continuing efforts and strides made with the COVID-19 pandemic, in-person social security disability hearings are still not being scheduled. In response, Social Security is now offering online video hearings using a free platform called Microsoft (MS) Teams. Claimants and representatives can attend their online video hearing from any private place with a secure internet connection using their camera enabled phone, tablet, or computer.
A video hearing is conducted in essentially the same way as a telephone or in-person hearing. The claimant, his or her representative (if appointed) and the Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) all appear on the video screen during the hearing. Other participants such as vocational and medical experts and interpreters will join by phone only. The Administrative Law Judge will swear in all hearing participants providing testimony, listen to testimony, ask questions and allow your representative to ask questions.
If you would like to discuss your hearing options or have general questions regarding your claim, call our The Law Office of Malyuk McDaniel Kasper LLC to schedule an appointment to review your disability options. 330.929.9700
